My Miracle Morning

I just finished reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod which inspired me to complete my own Miracle Morning on Saturday May 30, 2015 (I know.  I'm a little late in posting this) but better late than never!

Basically, a Miracle Morning includes these 6 components, in any order, for any duration:
1.  Exercise
2.  Visualization
3.  Reading/Personal Development
4.  Meditation
5.  Positive Affirmations
6.  Gratitude Journal

It was a Saturday morning.  I'll always remember the date because it also happened to be my 5 Year Wedding Anniversary.  I usually use  Saturdays to sleep in, but for some reason I woke up at 5am.  I had been attempting the Miracle Morning all week but always seemed to run out of time.  I think it was for that reason that I knew I would not have to run off to work that this might be my best bet to FINALLY complete My Miracle Morning.

So I got out of bed, careful not to wake my husband and I embarked on a 4.5 mile run.  Granted I had not run hardly at all in the last 6 months leading up to this.  An old elbow injury had flared up and I had decided a couple days earlier that jogging would be an acceptable alternative to the strength training I had previously been enjoying.

During that run, I found myself repeating these phrases over and over again, "I am capable of so much more than I know.  My body is so much stronger than I realize.  I just have to let go.  What do you mean I'm not a runner?  That's the old me.  The NEW ME is whoever I choose her to be!"

These words got me through.  I'll admit I did a lot of visualization during my run as well.  I thought about where I wanted to be in 5 years.  What my house was like, the neighborhood I lived in, what it felt like to wake up in that bed, the smells from the kitchen, the sound of my husband's voice, and my daughter's laughter as she jumps into our bed, in this future I am called to create.  I have to say, it was pretty powerful.

When I got back, I read for 10 minutes in the kitchen while stretching on the tile floor.  It helped me cool down.

I came upstairs and did a 7 minute meditation using my favorite breathing app called Pranayama.  I liked Hal's approach to mediation because it felt accessible in its simplicity.  I breathed in through my nose while saying the word "healing" and imagined tiny little lights coming into my body and healing my elbow injury.  And I exhaled through my mouth the words "love and understanding" because I want to give those things to others.

I wrote in my gratitude journal about my amazing husband and my beautiful daughter.  I texted my workout accountability partner at 7am.

I had already come home earlier to find orchids in the kitchen after my run, and DANG my hubby surprised me again.  I had been scribing in my journal on the floor, only to get up and discover a beautiful orchid arrangement on my desk.  Not sure how I had missed that when I walked in earlier.  Orchids are my favorite flower and he always gets them for me on special occasions, like our wedding anniversary.

In my office I reviewed my dream boards and then went to get ready to shower.  I read my affirmations which are posted next to the sink, purposely posted there so I can read them every time I brush my teeth at night and when I wake up every morning.  And then afterwards, went downstairs to make my hubby breakfast.

Overall, it was a pretty fantastic morning!  Not sure I could do it everyday BUT definitely LOVE all the components of the Miracle Morning.  I have done them all on different occasions but never all at once and back to back.  I'll keep working on it.

  1. That's awesome that you had such an amazing morning. I need to check out that meditation app that you mentioned. My hardest part of the Miracle Morning is the silence part because my mind races all over the place. Hopefully I can get that to a calmer state. It will be interesting to see how I progress in my YouTube videos from Day 1 to eventually Day 30. I'm curious to see if I will be able to have a better silence exercise.
