Book Club with Raina - You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

So we're reading the book You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero in one of my awesome Fun and Fit Challenge Groups this month, and I always enjoy sharing my favorite takeaways in a series I've dubbed Book Club with Raina.  I'm taking this EXERCISE directly from pages 58 and 59.

FIND A REPLACEMENT:
Have you ever found that you tend to beat yourself up when things go wrong? Start paying attention to HOW YOU TALK TO YOURSELF. What runs through your mind? What happens inside you when you see someone totally succeeding at something you'd love to do but have never let yourself try? What do you think and feel when you walk up to a group of really good-looking, successful people?
Or when you fall off the wagon, stop exercising, and eat everything in sight?
Or when you try your best to pull something off and you fail?
Or when you let a friend down?
Or when you forget your dad's birthday?
Or when you stub your toe on the kitchen table for the 10th time?
Or when you snap at someone who didn't quite deserve it as harshly as you gave it to them?

We've gotten so used to our negative knee-jerk reactions to ourselves that we never think to question them. We simply take them as the truth BUT they're not the truth and it's important to recognize this! How we speak to ourselves MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

WE ARE OUR OWN COACHES. Can you imagine if you had a coach who constantly told you everyday that you sucked?  No. That would be a horrible coach, but that's what you're doing to yourself. BE THE COACH you would want for someone you love. What kind of coach would you want mentoring your child or your mom?  Start to love yourself. Be kind.  Once you do, you'll be able to do all the amazing things you've always wanted to do.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT:
Note and share below if you are so inclined, some of the things you find yourself saying and COME UP WITH REPLACEMENTS.  I've given you an example of my own. Everything on the left in the picture above are things I've said to myself and on the right are ones I have come up with to replace them. It's been a tough journey but I've been working hard at this for a couple months now, and I have been able to tell a major difference in my mood and overall happiness.  It's made me more productive and a nicer person to be around.  Go ahead.  Give it a try.  I can't wait to hear what you think!

Remember, You are a Badass.  You are Amazing.  And You are Worth it!
